We…
…are out to surprise and delight with the fun of live, nerdy music.
…celebrate geeks and music by appearing at themed events (cons, science fairs, geek weddings) and any celebration (you don’t have to know what obscure video game that song came from to enjoy great music).
…are flexible! We’ve played from stage to street corners and everywhere in between. We are ready and eager to jump out of elevators or get in the middle of dancing crowds.
…currently play music from sci-fi, cartoons, anime, video games, movies, TV shows, and more!
…look good! Cosplay with the best of them all while blasting some great tunes.
…took form in the Seattle HONK! community in January 2017.
…have a brass band and we’re not afraid to use it.
Musicians: Looking For Group?
We occasionally have openings in our roughly 20-person band for brass and drum players in the Seattle area (sousaphone/tuba, sax, trombone, baritone/euphonium, mellophone, trumpet, and drumline/percussion). Musicians of all levels are welcome to apply. Members are 21+ and commit to weekly rehearsals on Tuesdays, a busy con season, and a cosplay “dress code”.
We…
…are goofy, upbeat, and nerdy. We street perform outside cons, play stage shows, and jam at festivals. Our dream gigs include following cosplayers around with their theme songs, and a surprise party for Bill Nye.
…are open, transparent, supportive, and democratic about band operations with our members. We exist because our members dedicate free time on top of day jobs and families to arrange, practice, come up with crazy ideas, teach each other, and work together to share our love of music.
…are committed to an inclusive, diverse idea of “geek culture”, where people of all genders, race and ethnicity, LGBTQ+, young and old, lifelong fans and brand new enthusiasts feel welcome.
…experiment with new ideas, try new instruments, improv solos, and arrange themed sets we think sound cool. All our music is arranged by members and all members are highly encouraged to contribute creatively.
…read music. Our music is written down so new members, guest musicians, and fellow bands can easily join us.
…strive to memorize music. We like to get into the audience and that’s harder with a lyre. Still, we may use music for those “wouldn’t-it-be-cool-if” crash sets, learning something new, and generally to set ourselves up for success. We’re here for our members and audience to have fun.
…think nerds are cool.
